ABOUT lauren

As a dedicated yoga teacher, I create a psychologically and physically safe space where students can honour yoga’s roots with respect while embracing joy and personal expression. My approach balances tradition with playfulness, ensuring that yoga remains both a serious study and a living, evolving practice.

In my mentoring, I take a holistic, student-centered approach, fostering confidence, authenticity, and self-inquiry. Through deep listening, compassionate feedback, and collaborative dialogue, I guide teachers toward ethical and inclusive practice.

I specialise in yoga humanities and critical yoga studies, with a focus on decolonising yoga, addressing cultural appropriation, and engaging with the complexities of yoga’s historical and social contexts—including its debrahminisation.

Lauren is trained in Smart Flow Yoga (50 hours) tantric hatha yoga (100 hours), Yin Yoga (50 hours), Yoga Nidra, Tantric Kriya Kundalini Yoga (300 hours), Vinyasa Yoga (200 hours), Trauma aware Yoga (30 hours) and MBSR mindfulness based stress reduction meditation (50 hours). She is a 500 ERYT with Yoga Alliance. She also holds a diploma in general counselling and a BA in ARTS/LAWS.

TESTIMONIALS

  • Lauren is quite simply the best yoga teacher I've ever had. Her deep knowledge of the practise combined with her warm and nurturing energy provides a safe space to both unwind after a long day, and also develop and improve on my own practise. After over a year of her classes I am stronger, happier and healthier!.

  • I love hearing Lauren share what she knows, and thinks, about the world of yoga. Lauren draws on her years of personal practice, teaching experience and self-study to create thoughtful yoga theory talks that are truly unique, compelling and illuminating. Many a dot has been connected during one of Lauren’s dharma talks!

    — Julia Gray

  • Lauren’s classes are joyful, spontaneous and authentic. Her sequences are on point and her sense of humour is a bonus.

  • Having done yoga every day for years and then come to an abrupt halt when Covid struck, I couldn’t have found a better guide for my re-entry than Lauren. She knows her stuff better than anyone, but is also just a wonderfully down-to-earth and curious-minded person, who manages to make everyone in the room feel that the class was just for them. Practice is wonderfully varied, and you always walk out feeling better than when you walked in. Cannot recommend highly enough.

  • Lauren is the teacher you dream of coming across. She positively lives and breathes her work, yet still manages to remain entirely relatable. No small feat in the yoga scene. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that her understanding of the yogic philosophies is what initially captured my attention, but her presence.. her way of moving through life is what fully ingrained my faith in her as a teacher. Put simply, i believe she's the real deal. Learn from her if you can.

  • Lauren is an excellent teacher, always so grounded in the guided practices she offers. The depth of her knowledge and deeper insights to the philosophy of yoga is fabulous. She holds space and allows humour so much humility and love with her teachings - will always look forward to any teaching of Laurens.
