Decolonial Yoga Mentoring

I offer 1:1 mentoring for yoga students, practitioners, and emerging teachers who wish to deepen their studies while navigating the complex histories of yoga — including caste oppression, colonisation, Western commodification, and spiritual bypassing.

My mentoring is trauma-informed, de-Brahmanised, and committed to honouring yoga’s roots while disrupting the systems that have excluded so many from its teachings. I do not claim to be an expert. I try and fail on a regular basis. The work of decolonising our imaginations as white people or settlers requires a willingness on our parts to be vulnerable, humble and push back against pervasive colonial, patriarchal and capitalistic structures that condone perfectionism and being ‘right’. A dose of bravery and allowing not knowing is good stuff. I won’t comment on the work of shaking and de-rolling colonialism as a colonised one, as that is not my experience. The work of yoga reclamation by caste-oppressed folk can be supported by allies and more directly with accomplices who work in the critical, progressive yoga field.

this co-mentoring space is for:

  • Newly graduated or long time past graduated yoga teacher trainers that perhaps didn’t receive a critical yoga h*story/studies within the scope of training

  • Dalit, Adivasi, Indigenous, and caste-oppressed students reclaiming yoga on their own terms.

  • White practitioners seeking ethical study with cultural humility and awareness.

  • Teachers unpacking the spiritual materialism of modern yoga industries.

Mentoring may include:

  • Yoga philosophy, history & root texts

  • Trauma-informed practice and pedagogy

  • De-Brahmanising yoga studies

  • Anti-caste and decolonial frameworks

  • Ethical teaching practice & scope of practice

  • Personal support in developing your voice as a student or teacher

  • Please scroll down for other possible mentoring inquiries and ways we can work together to grow your teaching

Mentoring sessions are spacious, relational, and co-created — always centring your lived experience.

My Location / My Lineage

I am a white, senior yoga teacher based on Dja Dja Wurrung Country, Australia. My teaching is shaped by 12+ years of practice, and grounded in ongoing study of yoga philosophy, ethics, history, and decolonial frameworks. I carry deep respect for the South Asian, Dalit, and Adivasi scholars and practitioners who continue to challenge and expand our collective understanding of yoga’s true liberatory roots.

How It Works

  • Sessions held via Zoom or in person (60 - 90min)

  • Sliding scale and scholarship options available for caste-oppressed students.

  • Intake form and initial call to shape our work together.

  • Ongoing email support between sessions.

If you would like to explore mentoring, please reach out. This is careful work. We will go gently and build your learning pathway together.
